Hansika made her debut in a lead role in Puri Jagannadh's Telugu film, Desamuduru, starring opposite Allu Arjun. The film was about a crime reporter who falls in love with a sanyasini, played by Hansika. Hansika made her debut as a leading actress in Bollywood with Himesh Reshammiya in Aap Kaa Surroor in which played the role of Reshammiya's love interest Ria. The film was a moderate hit. She had next signed the Hindi film titled He: The Only One, where she was to essay the role of a killer, hell-bent on taking revenge for her family. The film was shelved midway. Hansika's first 2008 release was Bindaas (2008) starring Puneet Rajkumar, which was her first and remains her only Kannada film. Later the year she was paired with Jr. NTR in the film Kantri (2008). She made her Tamil film debut in the 2011 film Mappillai opposite Dhanush, following which her next Tamil film Engeyum Kadhal opposite Jayam Ravi released. Her last film in 2011 was Velayudham alongside Vijay, which became a box-office success. It was the first time she portrayed the role of a village belle. 
 
In 2012, Hansika's first release was M. Rajesh's romantic comedy film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, which became a runaway hit and earned her positive reviews from critics for her performance. She is filming for Denikaina Ready opposite Vishnu Manchu, and Settai opposite Arya. She was selected to play Maya, a female gangster in Silambarasan's Vettai Mannan, and is also acting in Vaalu with him. She has also acting in Hari's singam 2 opposite suriya..She has completed filming for Venkat Prabhu's Biriyani with Karthi. She was selected to play Maya, a gangster, in Silambarasan's Vettai Mannan, with whom she was also acting in Vaalu. She started shooting for Sundar C's psychological thriller Aranmanai in October 2013. Apart from Aranmanai, she is also working on two Tamil films Maan Karate and Uyire Uyire, the remake of the Telugu film Ishq under Jaya Prada's production and a Telugu film Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda. She has also signed another Telugu film to be directed by KS Ravindra (Bobby).

 Hansika Motwani confirms relationship with Tamil actor Simbu
 
 
 
 
 
Southern actress Hansika Motwani and Tamil actor Silambarasan aka Simbu have confirmed that they are in a relationship. However, Simbu says any decision related to their marriage will be taken by their respective families. Hansika had been rubbishing rumours about her link-up with Simbu, but she has finally opened up on micro-blogging site Twitter. 
 
"(I have) been hearing many rumours about my personal life, so just want to clear (the air).Yes, I'm seeing STR (Simbu) and hence I wouldn't like to talk about my personal life," Hansika posted on her Twitter page. 
Confirming the news, Simbu posted on Twitter: "Yes, I'm with Hansika and right now she is doing really good and marriage will be decided by our family. (I) hope you will respect our privacy".
