Mamtha was born on November 14, 1985, in Bahrain. Before debuting on the big screen, Mamtha was a much-in-demand model.
After graduation, she wanted to do further studies in the UK and work in the Middle East.
She was to play a role in the Mohanlal-starrer 'Keerthi Chakra', but opted out due to date problems.
Her Malayalam film, 'Lanka', with Suresh Gopi, was dubbed into Telugu as 'Pokiri Pilla'.
Mamtha is a trained singer in Carnatic and Hindustani music.
She won the Filmfare award for the Best Female Singer in Telugu, in the year 2007.
She says: "The thrill I get out from singing is something else. It was my dream to become a singer."
Mamtha wants to be known as "singing actress. I am an actress now and a singer forever."
Mamtha made her debut in Kollywood as a playback singer with the number, "Kaalai Kaalai", for Silambarasan's 'Kaalai'.
Her song "Kkalesthi Annam Pedtha" for Chiranjeevi-starrer 'Shankardada Zindabad' was a big hit.
Her first role as a heroine in Telugu was in 'Yamadonga', directed by SS Rajamouli. The Jr NTR film was one of the biggest hits of the year.
Her sizzling performance in JD Chakravarthy's 'Homam' had Tollywood singing to her tune.
Mamtha is a speed freak. She had once wanted to become a bike racer! She loves to race in open roads at over 200 km/h on her Honda CBR 1000RR motorcycle.
