Several films have come with treason by extremists as the backdrop. In most of the cases, the extremists made use of religion, politics as the source to show extremism. Director Srikanth, went a step ahead, and tried family system too as a source in this regard. Once again the Telugu film industry tries to highlight how the innocent are getting caught in the cobweb, despite the high-level patriotism they have in mind. He was able to maintain a good amount of suspicion to certain extent, but he lost grip on the subject frequently which has caused a bumpy movement of the film.
Plot
Bharat (Rajiv Kanakala) is an orphan and brought up in a orphanage. Sreenu (Uttej) is his close friend. Bharat studies hard and becomes a software professional. Being an orphan, he loves children very much. Once some extremists plan to attack the police and gain entry into his car and forcibly take him with them to the outskirts of the city. By the time, they were about to blast the police jeep and van, Bharat drives his car to block the movement of the police and saves them. As a result, the government announces Best Citizen Award and he is expected to take the award from the President of India on Republic Day.
At this juncture, he comes across Sameera (Sindhu Tulani), who is doing fashion designing. Their friendship grows and turns into love. With the acceptance of Sameera's parents (CVL Narasimha Rao and Ayesha Jaleel), they get married. However, Sameera keeps a condition that their first night should be only after completion of her studies. Meanwhile, there is an attack on Bharat and somehow he survives from it. Again there is another attack in the form of electric shock and accidentally Sreenu gets it, and he too survives from it. Just before the Republic Day, i.e., on January 15, Bharat tries to surprise Sameera and wish her happy birthday at midnight and she hits him with a flower vase causing grievous injury. So, left with no option, Bharat tells Sameera to go to Delhi and receive the award. At this juncture, a bomb blast occurs in Hyderabad in which two persons get killed. The case is handed over to CBI. The CBI officer Khan (Jackie Shroff), who is very shrewd, notices a car in a video footage and finds that it belongs to Bharat. He questions Bharat, but could not find any conclusive evidence.
On investigation, the CBI sleuths notice that Sameera's parents were Muslims. Then they arrest Sameera's father, who reveals the entire story. Sameera is a Muslim girl and her fiancee, who masterminds blasts in Mumbai gets killed just before their engagement. So, she had decided to avenge the killing. As per a plan, she cornered Bharat and married him. On learning this, Khan and Bharat go to the function, but could not stop her from going to the dais due to some security reasons. However, Bharat to prevent a disaster, snatches Khan's revolver and kills Sameera.
PLUS: The director has maintained suspense all through the film and the storyline though not predictable appears to be somewhat interesting. Rajiv Kanakala gave an impressive performance. Sindhu Tulani is at her best. She not only filled the glamour slot, but also appeared romantic in some scenes and got good opportunity to prove her acting capabilities. Jackie Shroff, though appeared a little old, did justice to his role. Uttej is good as hero's buddy. However, Rajiv Kanakala's performance is the only highlight and plus point for the movie.
MINUS: Though the storyline is average, the director gave a good twist to it. Though it was he who penned the story, screenplay and dialogues, the director due to inexperience remained butter-fingered. He lost grip while running the subject many times. Music by Vijay Kurakula though not very impressive in songs, with no foot-tapping numbers, his background score is good and has elevated the mood of the film in some scenes.
Camera work by Joshi is not bad and Marthand K Venkatesh did a neat job. Production values of UK Avenues are okay. The film is good for serious viewing, and the entertainment values are very less. Placement of songs is also improper and spoiled the tempo of the film. Srikanth Vemulapalli, however, appeared a promising director, and hopes he could deliver a good film in his next project by learning from the drawbacks he faced in this film.

Gundamma is a rich widow who has a daughter Saroja, and son Prabhakar and a Cinderella like step daughter Lakshmi. Both the girls are beautiful and intelligent but the similarity ends there. Saroja is a teen spoiled by her mother's pampering where as Lakshmi is treated as a servant in her own house. Ramabhadraiah, who has two sons of marriageable age is searching for suitable brides. It so happens that he used to be a good friend of Gundamma's late husband. He now sends a letter to Gundamma that he is interested in her daughter for his son's alliance. Gundamma is interested in the alliance but for her own daughter Saroja. She wants to overcome the obstacle of her elder step daughter by getting her married to some good for nothing person so that the world does not censure Gundamma of neglecting her step daughter. Enter Kanchu Gantaiah, Gundamma's Gumastha(manager) somehow wants Saroja to marry his own son who he insists is pursuing higher education abroad which happens to be the well known Andhra prison.
Meanwhile, Ramabhadraiah and his sons know about Gundamma's miserliness, avarice and her treatment of her children and decide to play a game to teach her a lesson. After deciding that Lakshmi will make a suitable match for his first son and Saroja for his second , Ramabhadraiah, asks his sons to commence the drama. The first son enters Gundamma's house as Anji, a street worthy servant and wins her heart instantly and even a place in her house as a helping hand. The second son Raja, with the aid of his cousin Padma, who happens to be Saroja's friend, enters as Ramabhadraiah's son woos her, and ends up winning her heart. The servant son, with his humility and wit, wins Lakshmi's heart and asks Gundamma for Lakshmi's hand in marriage. After taking Gantaiah's advice, she obliges under the impression that she will never find a more obliging and humble fool who would ever do her command. Anji marries Lakshmi.
Meanwhile, Gundamma is impressed by the second son for Saroja and is making plans for the wedding. However, she receives a letter from Ramabhadraiah that he is no longer interested in the alliance doubting rumors that Gundamma poisoned her husband, his friend. Saroja wants to marry Raja at all costs and creates a tantrum that she will die if refused her demand. Gundamma obliges again after taking advise from her trustworthy manager convinced that a son in law in her own house will not raise a voice and that she can relish the company of her beloved daughter even after her marriage. All along, Prabhakar is in love with Padma, and marries her against Gundamma's wish without taking dowry.
Anji fights with Gundamma and leaves the house with his beloved Lakshmi. Raja shows his true colors by acting as a drunkard and discloses that he is not Ramabhadraiah's real son and is a vagabond and wanted thief. As Gundamma's problems are starting, enters Padma's paternal aunt, a terror to even Gundamma. The cat fights which ensue between Gundamma' and Padma's aunt go out of control after a while. Raja absconds leaving Saroja in distress and then writes a letter to her asking her to accompany him in his flight. Saroja being a good wife, obliges and leaves Gundamma's house very much against her wishes. Gundamma is shattered with all these problems and at such a time, Gantaiah's son, freshly released from prison, torments her even more. Thus Gundamma, in the absence of Prabhakar is confined to the out house of her own house by Padma's boisterous aunt and Gantaiah's prison educated son.
Life twists for Lakshmi when Anji places her in the bungalow of Ramabhadraiah proclaiming her to be the mistress of the house and the daughter in law of Ramabhadraiah. She forgets her life long misery but still holds concern for her mother Gundamma and Saroja her sister. Saroja is introduced as a gardener in the same bungalow by Raja and is humiliated by Ramabhadraiah as a servant. Saroja's conceit and arrogance break thus making her a well behaved wife..Meanwhile even Gundamma is transformed into a humble woman following all of life's tortures in a short span. Lakshmi is re-united with Saroja and both of them go to Gundamma to reveal the facts about their futures. Gundamma is happy to see that both of them are married into a good family and continues to be good to everyone from then on.
The numerous mild comedy scenes that are present throughout the story are noteworthy and so are the songs. NTR as Anji is excellent and so is Suryakantham as Gundamma. Every other character shares importance in the story line which is GUNDAMMA KATHA.

Telugu Movie 'Siddhu From Seekakulam' Review
Cast: Naresh, Manjari, Shraddha Das, Dharmavarapu, Chandra Mohan, Kondavalasa, Venu Madhav and Others.
Cinematography: Dasaradhi Shivendra.
Editing: Kotagiri Venkateswararao.
Music: KM Radha Krishnann.
Story, Screenplay & Direction : Eswar
Producer: Malla Vijay Prasad.
Banner: Wellfare Creations.
Release Date: 14th August, 2008.
Manjari and NareshPlot Sidhu woes Shailu with his ‘reverse' techniques. Then he finds out she is the daughter of a Rayalaseema factionist. The local SI gets her father and his rival together and somehow convinces them to get their children married to end the rivalry. Sidhu's friends are ready to help them elope, but Sidhu has other plans. He wants to break up because it's all too dangerous, and Shailu tries to woo him for a good part of the movie. Whether he changes his mind about her and how they finally get together is the rest of the plot.
Story, Screenplay and Direction The screenplay has a non-linear narrative, and some of the ideas incorporated in the screenplay could have actually made it tolerable. But with childish dialogue, shoddy direction and hamming all the way, that doesn't seem like an option. We might agree or disagree with the story as such, or conclude that the girl is a bimbette for falling for him and then trying to win him later; but that's not the point. The point of view of perspective of the director counts for less than the vision of the direction. Here, the vision is obviously rusted.
The comedy is forced and has absolutely no spontainity. The lone star of the show is Ahuthi Prasad, who after a really good character in Chandamama, has come back with another character that suits him and he performs with élan. He plays the role of Shailu's unbelievably lazy uncle, and his character, in any other movie, would have made a difference. In this, it is the thin silver lining of a very dark cloud.
Naresh and Shraddha DasPerformances Shailu's sister has a svelte figure, and sizzles in an unnecessary number. Some of those scenes with her and Sidhu border on vulgarity, more so because of the silliness rather than the sexuality in it. The content of her exposing is not new today and doesn't shock, but the context-an NRI who has come for her cousin's wedding in good ol' AP-is totally out of place.
Last WordThe pace is really slow, the movie has little to offer and music or performances are nothing to write home about. A waste of time, Sidhu from Srikakulam has none of the comedy or vigor expected out of the catchy title and the presence of Naresh. The real damper? It has a 5 minute introduction to the makers, the producers, the company profile, patting of backs and anticipation of success before even the titles begin. Yawn!

Telugu Movie 'Salute' Review |
Film: Salute
Film: Salute
Rating: 1.75/5
Banner: GK Productions
Cast: Vishal, Nayantara, Upendra, Kota, Ali, Brahmanandam etc
Music: Harris Jayaraj
Production: Vikram Krishna
Co-Producer: Shriya Reddy
Direction: Rajasekhar
Released On: 14th Aug 2008
Story:
Satyam (Vishal) is an IPS officer and works as ACP. He believes in the concept of law and order is almost equal to God. He condemns encounters and states that everyone should be punished only by law and not by other means. On the other hand Kota Sreenivasa Rao is the main negative character in the film who wishes to become Chief Minister. He also conspires to kill some of the candidates those come in competition with him for CM's seat. He hires a killer for the purpose but the killer reports that he is not killing those candidates but someone else is doing all that. And the person who gives twist by those assassinations is Pratap (Upendra) who is a former police officer and gets betrayed professionally.
Satyam arrests Pratap and the latter challenges him that he cannot win over anti social elements by going as per law. But Satyam works towards proving that everything can be done within the periphery of law. And Divya (Nayantara) is the lady love for Satyam who is a crime reporter. Finally how Satyam proves that law is beyond everything forms the climax.
Performances:
Vishal did his role very well as Cop but still he has to groom up in terms of many other histrionics. Nayantara's role is mere waste and couldn't justify at all. Much hype was given for her glamour show but there is nothing great to mention about that. She is quite normal every where except in a single song.
Kota's villainy is good. Comedians Brahmanandam and Ali failed miserably as the comedy track itself is not convincing.
Technical departments are ok as far as cinematography, choreography and action episodes are concerned. Music stands out to be something better than everything.
In totality, the film failed to impress audiences.
Analysis:
The story line it self is something confusing and the narration is totally erratic. The director failed to convey what he wished to do. Nayantara's characterization is very weak. Although she is given a crime reporter's role there is no clarity in her acts on screen. The placements of songs are totally disgusting and the audience felt like sitting on thorns. The comedy track is totally dull. Although efforts were made to top up this Tamil dish with Andhra flavor using Ali and Brahmanandam that proved very dull spilling no laughs at all. Ali's role as Nayan's body guard is also not worthy. Both first half and second half proved to be duds. The only relief is the song canned on children. Music is good on a whole. There is no bloodshed in the film although action episodes dominate and that is the other notable factor.

Telugu Movie 'BALADOOR' Review |
BALADOOR Film On 'Pedannanna Sentiment'
Film: Baladoor
Rating: 2.5/5
Banner: Suresh Productions
Story: Paruchuri Brothers
Dialogues: Laxmi Bhoopal, Jaladandi
Music: KM Radhakrishnan
Choreography: Brinda, Dinesh and Prem Rakshit
Fights: Ram Laxman
Producer: Suresh
Screenplay, Direction: Uday Shankar
Released On: 14th Aug 2008
Story:
Rama Krishna (Super Star Krishna) and Purushottam (Chandra Mohan) are the brothers. As Purushottam's wife dies after becoming mother to a son he starts living with his brothers' family as he has to nurture his mother less child Chanti (Ravi Teja). Chanti loves his elder paternal uncle a lot and never tolerates if anyone hurts him. Rama Krishna also loves Chanti a lot. As expected the sons of Rama Krishna are not fair either in character or in business. It's only Chanti who feels responsible towards the respect of the family. But in a few unforeseen circumstances Chanti will be kicked out from the house by his own father Purushottam. Eventually, things go different in the family of Rama Krishna but they can be easily guessed by audiences who have watched many of Venkatesh's films with that formula. And Bhanumathi (Anushka) is the love element for Chanti who meets him in a Railway Station in serendipity. How Chanti handles with the villains those try to damage the construction business of Rama Krishna with old vengeance has to be watched on screen. How Chanti comes back to the house and how he impresses everyone with his responsible nature from outside tales us to the culmination.
Performances:
Ravi Teja did his best with his trademark energetic performance. But since the characterization required pathos to be expressed his energy is seen in lesser degree unlike his previous films. It cannot be ruled out that old age signs are prominently appearing on his face now. But his bearing sounds young for sure.
Anushka is stunningly beautiful and especially in songs she stood as big attractive factor on screen. And coming to her characterization, she is doing same sort of roles in every film. While she did a vamp like role in Okka Magadu, here in Baladoor she did a drunkard role with erotic factor in dialogues. It is the second film for her with Ravi Teja after Vikramarkudu.
Krishna is ok in his elderly role but his fighting scene in climax is over dosed. Pradeep Rawath, Subba Raju and Satya Raj are as usually rough in their villainy roles.
And technical aspects in the film are ok with respect to camera work. Choreography would have been better. Costumes are impressive. Music is just average. And coming to the direction part, the element chosen in the film is a routine one. Just switching the sentiment on to 'pedananna' instead of mother and sister is the only new factor here. Uday Shankar would have worked better in bringing in better emotions.
Analysis:
Venkatesh strikes the mind screen while watching this film as it appears that it is tailor made for him. Anushka factor and Ravi Teja in lead role with a powerful title drags audiences to theaters. But the expected energy is not seen in the film. It is more over a sentimental treat than action and romance. Although all mass elements are grooved in here, sentiment dominates the other factors.
The songs 'Rangu Rangu Vaana…', 'Nuvvu Konchem Teda..' are impressive for ears and aesthetic for eyes. Brahmanandam's comedy as Naani is not worked properly. Every frame with him is dealt with a coconut without showing any creativity.
First half of the film goes with little romance and little action while second half is completely dominated by action sequences.
To sum up, we can say that it is a good attempt but very well within the periphery of 'normal guess of any audience'. There is no suspense element in narration and powerful twists in story line. But still chances for success of this film can be seen as a hope provided family audiences consider it to be worth watching.

Telugu Movie KATHANAYAKUDU Review |

Release Date: 1st August, 2008.
Jagapathi Babu and Meena Plot Balakrishna a.k.a. Balu has a rickety little saloon with a chair that's about to break and no prospects. His competitor across the road has cut-throat business techniques, and Balu's business is bad. The sleepy village has a surprise-super star Ashok Kumar's movie is going to be shot there, with top level security and the whole village thirsty for a glimpse of the icon. Balu's wife reveals that he and the star were classmates in school and college, but the mild-mannered barber cannot manage to contact the star and the village and his own children lose faith in him. Will the star recognize him after all these years or is Balu lying-is what the rest of the plot deals with.
Story, Screenplay and Direction The original Malayalam version didn't have the aura of Rajnikanth dominating it's every frame. It cannot be compared to this one. At this point, it's difficult for him to be just an actor and not let his stardom come in the way. So a lot of the dialogues seem to be written purely for him, directed at his fan base and written for the applause and adoration of the first day crowds. So to tell a simple story with a huge star in it's midst playing almost himself…doesn't work.
But Rajnikanth and Jagapathi Babu's tracks run well. It's the other characters that come across as irksome. Sunil and his wife's track is just so 1980s and you wonder if they've borrowed from some Malayalam 18 and above movie when it starts off. Sunil is obnoxiously loud, not just the actor, but the character too lacks realness. Dharmavarapu's character is more believable that way, the rich guy of the village thinking he'll get to make a movie soon. Then the school's management in-charge who throws his attitude in front of the star. These two characters stand out.
The shooting absolutely lacks believability, and the makers look in to pull off some extra gags. So you have all those hit movies of Rajni, only this time its part 2. But it could have been consistent, like just stick to one movie and not 2 or 3 of them. The editing is patchy.
Rajni Kanth Performances It's not just about style for Rajni this time. He cries, he complains, he laughs-not the Shivaji-bookish laugh, a real laugh for now. That way it's refreshing, and though his Chandramukhi part 2 and Narasimha part 2 are passable in the humor department, it just goes to show that the actor can still laugh at his histrionics and doesn't take himself too seriously. Jagapathi Babu is a severely underrated actor who stands his own in a movie dominated by Rajni's multi-lingual presence. Meena is suitable as his wife; his kids do a good job. Sunil is LOUD. Nayanatara sizzles in one song. The whole village crowd, even the seasoned actors, perform like they are in the middle of a local stage play.
Song and Dance The rain song with Nayanatara, Rajni's intro song ‘Cinema cinema' and the happy family songs are good. Background is not imposing.
Last Word This movie had all the potential to be beautiful and tell a story that one always knew in a new way. Perfect casting, mediocre writing, passable direction. Let's hope for SRK's sake his Billoo Barber turns out to be a more entertaining watch.
