Personal life
Ram is the son of Murali Pothineni, the brother of
noted film producer Ravi Kishore Pothineni, popularly known as Sravanthi
Ravi Kishore. He was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, but was brought
up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He did his schooling at Chettinad Vidyashram
and St.Johns School, Chennai.
Career Ram has started his acting career at a very young age of 12 years. He acted in a short film by name ‘ID’ in Tamil and was awarded “The Best Actor” among 120 films screened from 60 countries at the European Film Festival conducted at Otten,Switzerland! He is obsessed with the career option of becoming an actor with a profound commitment and zeal. His strenuous efforts, hard work … almost 18 hours a day, and the passion for acting resulted into his being identified by renowned director and producer Mr. Y.V.S Chowdary, a perfectionist to the core, for making his film Devadasu. Ram grabbed the opportunity provided to him and continued his commitment, sincerity and dedication in performing the lead role of the film Devadasu.
RAM, the promising young star had attained glory with his maiden film in
telugu 'DEVADASU'. The telugu film industry suddenly found a young and a
promising actor with extreme ease at dancing skills and also the power
to portray action scenes too. He is known to be the 'YOUNGEST HERO OF
THE SOUTH'. Ram made his debut in 2006 with Devadasu and the film went on to become a
blockbuster, running for 175 days in over a dozen centers. His second
film, Jagadam was directed by Sukumar. Though it did not do well at the
box office, it received critical acclaim. He then appeared in Ready
alongside Genelia D'Souza directed by Srinu Vaitla with the film
becoming a huge success, prompting remakes into other Indian languages
and catapulting him to the big league. In 2009, he had two releases,
Maska and Ganesh Just Ganesh, the latter was not successful at the box
office. Maska had one of the biggest openings at the time, collecting
over INR2.5 crores on the opening day and recovering its investment
within the first week. In 2010, Ram had only one release, Rama Rama
Krishna Krishna, produced by Dil Raju and directed by Srivaas. Ram's
next film Kandireega was a big blockbuster of 2011 and Ram proved to be
the man of the masses along with his lover boy image. His next latest
release was Endhukante Premanta with Tamannaah, directed by Karunakaran
and produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore. The movie was shot in the
beautiful lavish locales with a huge budget but it turned out to be an
average grosser.
In 2013, Ram had yet another release, Ongole
Githa with Kriti Kharbanda directed by Bhaskar and produced by B.V.S.N.
Prasad. The movie was released on February 1, 2013 was sold for a record
price in Ram's career despite the result of his previous film. This
film garnered a superb opening but couldn't live up to its hype. He next
starred with Daggubati Venkatesh in Masala, the remake of the Hindi
film Bol Bachchan which was directed by K. Vijaya Bhaskar and jointly
produced by Sravanthi Ravi KIshore and Suresh Babu
