Rajinikanth's biography to hit stands on 12.12.12

A biography of Rajinikanth will hit book stands in the superstar's true style on 12.12.12.

Publishers Penguin Books India said that "Rajinikanth" by critic-producer Naman Ramachandaran will be the first and only definitive biography of one of India's biggest stars and the launch will commemorate his 62nd birthday on the unique date December 12, 2012.

"The book will comprehensively analyse his meteoric career in the movie industry from his debut performance to his forthcoming blockbuster "Rana", releasing this year.

"With never before presented insights on his personal and political life, this book, for the first time analyses the unmatched charm and magic of Rajinikanth that bridges the unique boy-next-door, down to earth persona, with that of his larger than life superstar image," the publishers said in a statement. The book will also contain rare pictures and anecdotes.

Rajanna Movie Review – Rajanna Movie Review, Rating, Telugu Movie: This film is touted to be the comeback film of director Vijayendra Prasad who made his debut as director with Arthangi in 1996. The film was made on the real life incidents in Telangana region during the Nizam rule. The movie is laced with sentiment, emotions and patriotism. Nagarjuna Akkineni produced the film on Annapurna Studios banner. Here is the review of Rajanna

Story:

The story of the film revolves around the central character Mallamma, an orphan girl who is being raised by an old man. The girl has a passion to sing and that has been strongly opposed by the Dorasani of the village as she feels that her songs have some intense emotion which can turn the entire village against her. But, poor girl couldn’t stop singing and as a result the dorasani kills the old man, locks the girl inside the house and set it ablaze. The girl escapes the mishap with the help of a music teacher and makes her way to Delhi to meet the then Prime Minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru to complain against the atrocities of dorasani. The rest of the movie is all about how the girl meets the Prime Minister and fulfills the villagers and Rajanna’s wish.

Analysis:

The movie opens and concludes with a voiceover from Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The first hour of the film is narrated well with heavy sentiment scenes. The introduction of Nagarjuna is a bit late and will be exactly 10 minutes before the interval. The film offers lot of human emotions, patriotism and sentiment which are depicted in a convincing manner. The plot of the film is interesting and laudable. The director could have done better home work at the end.

The second half of the film slowly picks up post interval and leaves a good impression. The power packed dialogues and action episodes are a treat to watch on screen. We can see the mark of Rajamouli in action episodes and couple of songs. Gijigaadu and Veyyi Ra Veyyi songs are the best songs of the film. The screenplay of the film is predictable and lacks the wow factor. The Telangana accent of Nagarjuna is good. Keeravani needs a special mention for his wonderful background score and soundtrack. Overall, the film is watchable for decent performances from the lead star cast.

Performance:

The role played by Nagarjuna as Rajanna is suave and powerful. His histrionics will surely amuse his fans after long time. Pradeep Rawat, Ajay, Nassar, Supreeth and ‘Sye’ Chotu are good in their roles. Sneha is adequate as Lachuvamma. Baby Annie as Mallamma is the show stealer of the film. Her stellar performance is the backbone of the film. Keeravani brings the soul to the film with his wonderful background score and songs. Swetha Menon has delivered her best in a negative role. Mukesh Rishi has a limited role to play. Telangana Sakuntala is just ok.

Technicalities:

The cinematography by Shyam K Naidu is excellent. Graphics are tawdry. This is undoubtedly one of the best works of Keeravani in recent times. The art director has done a brilliant job in bringing out the nativity factor during Nizam era. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is up to the mark. The director’s choice of script is good but the execution part could have be better.

Final Word:

Watch the film for wonderful performances from Baby Annie, Nagarjuna and soulful music from Keeravani.

Vijay K Chakravarthy is the cinematographer and Rahul Raj has composed the music for this film.

Actors Siddharth and Shruti Haasan play the lead in the upcoming Telugu movie Oh My Friend.

Oh My Friend is written and directed by debutant Venu Sriram and produced by 'Dil' Raju, Shirish and Laxman.

According to reports, Oh My Friend is the real life account of director Venu Sriram's college days.

The shooting of the movie has been completed recently and post production work is in progress in Hyderabad.

Earlier, Amrita Rao was signed for the movie, but she was later replaced by Shruti Haasan.

Dookudu Movie Review –

Story:

Ajay (Mahesh Babu) is the son of Ex MLA Shankar Narayana (Prakash Raj), who is in a state of coma for fourteen years after meeting with a deadly accident. Shankar wants to see his son as a politician, serving the poor, but Ajay becomes a cop, who hunts a mafia don named Nayak (Sonu Sood). In the meantime Shankar Narayana comes to senses and the doctors advice Ajay to take good care of him as shocking things might upset his health again.

So Ajay rents their house, which is now occupied by a greedy person Padmasri (Brahmanandam) and starts playing a drama to keep his father happy. Ajay also comes to know that it was Nayak, who is the actual reason for his father’s current state. How he eliminates the sidekicks of Nayak and finally kills Nayak is the story.

Analysis:

Dookudu is a brand Srinu Vytla film laced with good humor and action. There is another angle to regular Srinu Vytla brand movies in it and that is the father sentiment. Whole story is based on the father-son sentiment and Srinu Vytla penned a screenplay around it in his own style.

Almost all the characters in the film are from previous Srinu Vytla’s films. He made subtle changes to the already seen characters and scenes and made a brand new film. Somehow it works even after heading in the ‘beaten track’. First half is hilarious until the first half hour and later it drags a bit and gets back on track after sometime. Second hour starts on an average note and picks up with all the characters turning out to be too funny to resist.

On a whole, Dookudu is a Srinu Vytla formula film carried on able shoulders of Mahesh Babu. It will entertain the holiday crowds and family audience. Fans will be extremely satisfied whereas people who look for something new might be disappointed with the formulaic stuff.

Performances:

Mahesh Babu comes up with a superb performance especially in the comedic scenes. His timing is impeccable and his charm is unmatchable. He is true superstar and the savior of this movie. His dialogs in various modulations and accent will be a treat to his fans. Samantha is gorgeous. Her steps in De thadi song are very good. She doesn't have big role to play in the film.

Brahmanandam’s role worked in parts and it was ‘howl’arious during the few scenes. Watch out for his outburst in the climax scene. Prakash Raj and Nasser are apt. Sonu Sood is perfect. MS Narayana is good. Dharmavarapu role hardly works. Parvathi Melton' s item song is a bomb. The best one on screen alongside Dethadi.

Suman, Nagababu, Vennela Kishore, Sayaji Shinde and all the actors did their parts well and are apt in their respective roles.

Technicalities:

Dilaogs by Kona Venkat are good. Few dialogs are pretty hilarious. Powerful lines written for Mahesh are good too. Music by Thaman is good for a commercial film. Background score is Okay. Cinematography is good and all the technical crew did their job well. Production values are very good.

Srinu Vytla stick to his strengths despite having a superstar and he made a decent entertainer yet again. He should have kept a watch on the length of the film as it is tad lengthy at times. Barring few boring moments he did a fine job with Dookudu.

VV Vinayak to direct Chiru 150th film

Looks like the ground is all set for Mega Star Padmabhushan Dr Chiranjeevi’s prestigious 150th film and according to the latest buzz the film will be helmed by ace director VV Vinayak. It is learnt that Vinayak has readied three powerful scripts and is sure that one of them will be finalised as and soon Chiru returns to Hyderabad.

Chiranjeevi left to Delhi yesterday to attend an urgent meeting presided by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. However, the storyline and the remaining details are not known but there are chances for the film to go onto the floors in January if Telangana issue comes to rest.

Earlier, Vinayak directed Chiru in a film titled Tagore which broke the industry records all over. When contact the sources close to Chiranjeevi remain tight lipped about the latest developments. This film will be produced by Ram Charan under a new banner.

Akasame Haddu Review – Aakasame Haddu Movie Review, Rating: Navadeep and Rajeev have teamed up for this film, which has a strong message to the youth. Akasame Haddu has a decent story and comes in as a surprisingly good film. Here’s the review…

Story:

Narayana (Rajeev) is the son of a middle class man Radha Krishna (Bhanuchander). He is a merit student and comes first in class. He achieves good ranks in competitive exams. He joins Engineering and studies with the help of donation given by his college principal. He reaches final year and then comes Keerthi into his life. He falls madly in love with her but she rejects. Dejected Rajeev tries to commit suicide and he gets saved by Karthik (Navadeep). With the help of Karthik’s tips Narayana becomes close friend of Keerthi. But she can’t accept his love due to a strong reason. What is it is the key to this story.

Analysis:

This film gives a strong message to the youth who commits suicides for some reason. It educates them to see beyond the problem and get along with the life. Although the film is about a social message it doesn’t get preachy and stick to the basics. That is why it works most of the times.

However it is too predictable and we can guess what comes next. This film based on a sensitive issue and it has few sensible scenes to keep the audience engaged. But it lack commercial elements like comedy to keep them entertained. If you like to watch a film with good storyline, then this will certainly impress you.

Performances:

Navadeep is cool. His performance will be liked by one and all. Rajeev gives a decent performance. He has shown his skills as a dancer in this film. Heroine Panchi is just Okay. Bhanuchander, Tanikella Bharani and others did well in their respective roles.

Technicalities:

Mantra Anand scores music to this film and it is passable. A better track list might have come good for this one. Dialogues are simple without any nonsense. Vishwa cinematography and Varma editing are neat. Director Ravi Kiran has clarity in what he is doing. He presented the film like an experienced director.

Final Word: Akasame Haddu is a decent attempt and you could give it a try.

Vachadu Gelichadu Review – Vachadu Gelichadu (vandhan vendran) Movie Review, Rating: Tamil film Vanthaan Vendran is dubbed in Telugu as Vachadu Gelichadu. Starring Jeeva, Taapsee and Nanda in lead roles this movie is directed by R. Kannan. What is this movie about?

Story:

Jeeva (Jeeva) and Ramana (Nanda) are step brothers from different fathers. Ramana doesn’t like his brother and hates his family. He tries to kill his little brother and flees away from home to become a big don. Jeeva comes to Mumbai and falls in love with Anjana (Taapsee). At an instant, Ramana kills Anajana’s father accidentally. Anjana seeks revenge and asks Jeeva to get Ramana behind bars. As there is no evidence for the killing, Ramana has to voluntarily surrender to police.

Ramana disagrees to do that and Anjana leaves Jeeva and move away to some unknown place until she get to know that Ramana is arrested or killed. Later Ramana comes to know that Jeeva is his step brother and he completely ignores him. But Jeeva hunts him down and there comes an unexpected twist in the tale.

Analysis:

This is a romantic family drama laced with some action. Most part of the film goes at a snail pace and bores you to death. The scenes look stupid and out of place at times. But that is deliberately done by the director and that will be known once the twist is revealed. The final twist answers many logical errors too.

The final twist really good but our audience may compare it to the twist in Darling movie. So, the only plus point of the film doesn’t really ‘shock’ our audience. May be Tamil audience might respond to it in a better way.

The film is technically sound and the performances are alright. Script is very weak that it would be a big test to sit through the film till climax. Music and cinematography are good though.

Performances:

Jeeva is good as the protagonist. His character needs to be underplayed and he does well in doing so. Taapsee looks sweet as Anjana but has to improve her acting skills. Nandha is good in a serious role. Santhanam’s comedy lacked the kick and Rehman is good in a small role.

Technicalities:

Thaman’s music is cool. Background score is very good. Anjana Anjana and Andala Bala songs will stay with you. Muttaiah’s cinematography is an asset to the film. Cinematography arrests you right away from the start. Editing by Vijayan is fine.

Kannan is a good technician but needs to sharpen his skills as a script writer. Although he has made deliberate errors as per the script requirement, he could have made this a breezy entertainer. All the comedy scenes are gone wasted. Romantic scenes lacked the soul (deliberate, may be).

Final Word: Vachadu Odaadu is an apt title for this film from audience point of view.

Kodi Punju Movie Review

Kodipunju Review – Kodipunju Telugu Movie Review, Rating: Chocolate boy Tanish after trying his hand at glycerin filled sentimental flicks, tries to show off his talent as a mass hero in Kodipunju. The very idea of casting Tanish in a rural mass film is bad and read on to know how the film has gone worse in many ways.

Story:
Abhimanyu (Tanish) is the only son of Seetha Ratnam (Roja), who completes his degree and goes for ICET coaching to the nearby town. Nandini (Sobhana) is daughter of a village president Rama Chandra Rao (Shiva Krishna). They both fall in love and both sides are happy for them except Rao, who is unaware of this. One day Abhimanyu and Rama Chandra Rao exchange words in a heated moment. That puts the couple’s love in dilemma and how Abhi overcomes it is the remaining story.

Analysis:
Kodipunju is straight out of eighties village backdrop films where the hero can blow away as many as dozen goons with single punch. The setup, characters and the script is very familiar and dated too. With an age old script on hands, the director has to make it an interesting watch by incorporating engaging scenes and entertaining dialogue.

Sadly, the director’s vision too is stuck in eighties and none of the scenes really make an impact. Scene after scene follows without any particular flow! Poor direction damaged it further. The interval scene looked forced and out of place. However, it does raise some expectations of having something in the second half.

Director simply ignores the interval scene and laughs it off as a joke. This is nothing but taking audience for granted. Firstly, casting Tanish in a full blown mass character is the biggest error and the rest of the damage is done by the director himself.

Performances:
Tanish is a complete miscast in this film. He doesn’t have the build, voice, looks or anything to become a mass hero. Audience couldn’t help but burst into laughter whenever he mouths heavy dialogues. He has failed as an actor in romantic scenes too. That is not a good sign.

Sobhana is alright. Roja is fine. In fact she is the only saving grace in this boring and torturous film. Siva Krishna is standard. Satya Prakash is routine. MS Narayana comedy fails big time.

Tehnicalities:
Cinematography is fairly decent for a low budget film. Music by Anoop is pretty bad. Dialogues are very weak. Editing is substandard. Director lacks vision and clarity. He could have made a routine film without any errors to prove his talent. But this film is a complete waste of time.

Final Word:
This Kodipunju is very weak to survive for at least a week.

Actress Khushbu, who was shooting in Cochin with Dileep for her Malayalam film, Mr Marumakan, sustained fracture on her left leg and was admitted to a hospital there recently.

A source present on the set says, "Khushbu plays Dileep's mother-in-law in the film, which has her paired opposite Bhagyaraj. She was shooting a song sequence, which required her to hum the lines and climb down a staircase. But unfortunately, the set collapsed and she was caught by surprise. Unable to regain her balance, Khushbu slipped and fell from the staircase. She sprained her leg muscles and sustained a fracture on her left leg and was immediately rushed to a hospital there. She's now in bed rest."

Movie Review:Vikram is back again, this time as an autistic man with developmental disabilities who fights for his five-year-old daughter. Director Vijay may have borrowed the subject from theHollywood flick "I Am Sam", starringSean Penn, but he has managed to bring in a new flavor to this emotional journey of a father and daughter and their love for each other.

The story is simple. Krishna (Vikram) who has the mental faculties of a five-year-old works in a chocolate factory. His wife delivers a baby girl and dies. Krishna calls her Vennela (Sarah) and she becomes the centre of his world. He soon admits her in a school, where Vennela befriends the school correspondent (Amala Paul). Krishna's father-in-law (Sachin Khadekar), who is a powerful and influential man enters the picture and takes Vennela away with him. Here begins his fight to get his child back. In the process, he meets a lawyer, Anuradha (Anushka), who wants to take Krishna's case to the court and fight leading advocate Bashyam (Nasser), who represents Krishna's father-in-law.

The film starts on a dull note, but once the child grows up into a tiny tot, the story gains momentum. The second half is high on emotions and leaves the audience teary-eyed. All credit to the director Vijay for evoking such emotive performances.

The film totally belongs toVikram and child actor, Sarah. While Vikram is at his best, staying true to his character brilliantly till the very end, Sarah surprises all with her stunning performance, especially in the final court scenes.Anushka too plays her part well and proves once again that she is no mere glam doll and can deliver great performances. Amala Paul is convincing in her part. Nasser, Sachin Khadekar and Surekha Vani make their presence felt. The film is technically strong too. The work of cinematographer Nirav Shah and music director G V Prakash are commendable.

In a sea of masala flicks, Nanna" comes as a breath of fresh air.

Jagapathi babu psychological Puzzle Thriller movie 'Key' released today

Story:

Nine members apply for a job by seeing an advertisement. Management says that only one person will be selected out of through a psychological test. As per the test they will be given question paper and they should find the answer to it in ninety minutes. There will be certain rules and regulations to write the test and people who fail to follow them will get eliminated. Invigilator (Jagapathi Babu) hands them over question papers and explains the procedure. However, the contestants realize that there is no question in the papers that is handed over to them. They have to find the question and give the answer to it too.

Analysis:

Director attempted to make a novel film and that has to be lauded. He simply didn’t take the beaten to death track to prove to be a successful director. But it seems like he didn’t do much homework behind this script. It appeared like a one hour telefilm most of the time

Thrill factor is completely missing despite having an interesting scenario. Not even the climax is up to the mark. All the incidents start to irk as the movie passes on. The narrative loses fuel within no time and the film starts to bore you. Thankfully the film lasts only 90 minutes but still fails to hold the interest in that less time.

Performances:

Jagapathi Babu’s role is just a cameo. He is Okay. Other actors did their part within their limitations. Producer and co producer Suresh too played comedic roles in this film.

Tehnicalities:

Technically Key is good for a film of its budget. Vijay Kurakula’s background score is engaging. Vinda cinematography is another plus point. Most part of the film is confined to a room but the cinematographer managed to keep the camera moving. Director has new ideas but didn’t know how to bring it on screen. He should do lot of homework before going on to sets.

Sources said that the actor seems to have no immediate plans to move into this new flat. However, the housewarming ceremony will be held soon and the actor will host a smashing party for his close friends and family.

Facebook removes Google+ ad

Web developer Michael Lee Johnson decided he wanted to quickly grow his number of Google+ friends. The best place to find people willing to friend you is of course Facebook, so Johnson ran a Facebook ad asking people to add him to their Circles on Google+. Facebook was not amused.

The ad was headlined “Add Michael to Google+.” It was short and to the point: “If you’re lucky enough to have a Google+ account, add Michael Lee Johnson, Internet Geek, App Developer, Technological Virtuoso.”

Facebook removed his ad, and banned him from running ads on the social network altogether. Johnson posted the following via his Google+ account (via TechCrunch):

LOL: I recently ran a Google+ advertisement on Facebook that got all of my campaigns suspended. - Great.

Facebook sent him the following message explaining why the ad was removed:

Your account has been disabled. All of your adverts have been stopped and should not be run again on the site under any circumstances. Generally, we disable an account if too many of its adverts violate our Terms of Use or Advertising guidelines. Unfortunately we cannot provide you with the specific violations that have been deemed abusive. Please review our Terms of Use and Advertising guidelines if you have any further questions.

Since Facebook doesn’t say, it’s not clear which rule – actually it could have been more than one – Johnson broke. It is worth noting, however, that the company has a Refusal of Ads clause in the Facebook Advertising Guidelines:

We may refuse ads at any time for any reason, including our determination that they promote competing products or services or negatively affect our business or relationship with our users.

There’s nothing wrong with a company having guidelines that are as beneficial to it as possible. Still, I don’t think Facebook should have killed all of Johnson’s ad campaigns.

A temple with history, legends and treasures

The idol of Lord Vishnu, presiding deity at Kerala’s Padmanabhaswami temple, where mind-boggling treasures have been discovered, is itself made of 12,000 ’salagramams’ or sacred stones.

The stones, brought from Gandaki river in Nepal, are bound together by a mixture of herbs and resins, a sticking subtance.

A book on the Travancore royal family which maintains the temple reveals that the 18-foot Vishnu idol bears the images of a whopping 33 crore celestials in conceptualised form, besides those of goddess Lakshmi and Bhoomi Devi as well as sages.

These details form part of a book on the Travancore royal family. The book, “Travancore: The Footprints of Destiny” has been published by Konark.

The temple hit the headlines after a Supreme Court ordered scrutiny of five of its six chambers uncovered a rich treasure trove including ancient gold coins, gems, antiques and cash.

The temple has in its archives the largest collection of cadjan records. It figures in four Puranas.

Thiruvananthapuram derives its name from Tiru Anantha Puram- meaning the city of Anantha, the serpant god on whom Lord Vishnu reclines.

With a history dating back to the 8th century, the temple was destroyed by fire in 1686. It was rebuilt in 1729.

Legend has it that god Balarama visited the temple and bathed in the holy pond and donated 10,000 cows with horns adorned in gold to the Brahmins.

The Krishna shrine in the seven-acre temple complex is older than the main shrine. Subsidiary shrines are devoted to Ganapathy, Ram, Narasimha, Ayyappa, Vedavyasa, Garuda and Hanuman.

The seven-storied tower, or Gopuram, pieces the skyline, looking like a boat.

The “Kulasekhara Mandapam” in the complex carries a wealth of intricate granite sculptures, says the book.

The “Ottakkal Mandapam”, facing the main idol, is a single slab of granite, which is 2.5 feet thick and 20 feet square in area.

For the temple festival, the cord for hoisting the two flags is still made by the inmates of the Central Jail in Poojapura.

Unique to the temple is an elaborate bi-annual ritual of sanctity called “Bhadra deepam”, literally the worship of the lamps.

It is the only temple in India to observe “Bhadra deepam”.

The 12th Bhadra deepam is celebrated as Laksha deepam, when the Travancore Maharajah offers gold, cash and a length of silk, a tradition that continues even today.

On the wide avenue leading to the eastern entrance of the temple, giant figures of the Pandavas are installed.

The images, carved in wood, are more than 25 feet in height and are elaborately painted and decorated, the book says.

Besides priests and their assistants, the temple has other employees such as light carriers, guards, musicians, cooks and vessel cleaners.

A. The plaques that you are mentioning are not in the eyes. So they cannot be confused for cataracts. It is easy to diagnose cataract with a slit lamp and distant direct ophthalmoscopic assessment by your eye doctor. It is not rocket science. So please be rest assured. Many will have cataracts, but only those which affect eyesight need to be operated.

Facebook launches video calls, group chat features

Quick on the heels of Google’s launch of its latest social-networking venture, Facebook said Wednesday that its 750 million users will now be able to make video calls on the site.

The feature will be powered by the Internet phone service Skype. Facebook also redesigned its chat feature, so that the people a user messages the most often show up first.

To make video calls, Facebook users with webcam-equipped computers have to select the friends they want to chat with. In the chat window that pops up, clicking on a small blue video icon brings up the video chat feature. Currently there is no option to video chat more than one person. That feature is available on Google Plus, a social service that Google began testing last week with a small number of invited users.

Facebook is also adding a group chat option. This works much the same way as the group chat on Google Plus. Once you are chatting with one friend, you can click an icon to add more people to the conversation.

Facebook’s new products come after a relatively quiet period for the world’s largest online social network. Mr. Zuckerberg, 27, said the company is embarking on “launching season 2011.” Users can expect “a lot of stuff coming out” from Facebook in the next couple of weeks and months, he said at an event at the company’s Palo Alto, California, headquarters.

Facebook updated its user count -- to 750 million users worldwide -- for the first time since last summer, when it reached half a billion people. Mr. Zuckerberg said that’s because “we don’t think it’s a metric to watch anymore.”

Rather, Facebook is paying more attention to how much its users are sharing with one another. That number is growing at a much faster rate than its monthly user base. Currently, people share 4 billion items, such as photos, status updates and links, every day using Facebook.

Without mentioning Google by name, Mr. Zuckerberg said that “independent entrepreneurs and companies focused on one particular thing will always do better than companies that try to do everything.”

For Facebook, that one thing has been creating an online social infrastructure that other companies, such as Skype, can then add their own products to.

Skype has agreed to be bought by Microsoft Corp. for $8.5 billion in a deal expected to close by the end of the year. Microsoft owns a small stake in Facebook.

Varun Sandesh who has been going through a lean patch in his career is back with a different entertainer. Whether it was entertaining enough to rock the box office, let us see

Story:
Siva (Varun Sandesh) is on a train to go to his uncle’s house. He chances upon Maya (Asmita) and Siva realizes that she has run away from home. He wants to hep her but she disappears suddenly. Siva reaches his uncle’s (Jayaprakash Reddy) home and here his ‘Maradalu’ Bhagya (Poonam Kaur) is hopelessly in love with him and wants to marry him. Once when Siva and Bhagya go to the market, Maya is spotted and she is chased by the goons. Siva takes Maya and escapes. At the same time, a noted director Brahmi (Brahmanandam) is narrating a story to Siva’s uncle. Interestingly, whatever Brahmi is narrating, the same is happening in real with Siva. Here, Brahmi reveals that the lady in his story is a killer. Is Maya a killer too? Why is she being chased? What happens to Bhagya’s love forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Varun Sandesh is seen in a special getup for this film but his new look doesn’t suit him. His lean looks make him appear worse. However, he has improved in his acting though he still has that foreign accent in his Telugu.

Asmita looks sexy but she is blank in acting. Since her character is complex, it would have helped if a performing actress was taken.

Krishnudu brought smiles with his heavy frame but he is yet to improve his acting. Brahmi has not done much comedy but due to his character, few smiles are got. Jayaprakash Reddy was annoying at start but later he was hilarious. Poonam Kaur comes in yet another forgettable role. Despite having good looks she is not getting the chance to do main leads. Prithvi and Amit were okay. Nagineedu was not matching his role.

Analysis:
Firstly, it was never explained why Brahmi’s story is happening for real. Though that can be ignored citing cinematic liberty, there are enough hiccups in the story which makes it difficult to term it as a fulsome comedy treat.

Except for those few comedy scenes here and there, the rest of it is trash. If this story was given to any other director he would have brought better result but Eshwar Reddy gave it up. If this had Allari Naresh then it would have been added bonus. Keeping the plot in suspense till the end was good but when it is revealed, one cannot help laughing. After all the hiding, one gets a feeling this is what the director had to say. There is no strength in any sequence.

And with the heroine unable to act, not much sympathy comes to her character. Except for few laughs here and there, the story is a bore.

Bottomline: It’s a stale curry not a story

Canadian-Indian actor Lisa Ray is perhaps most acclaimed for her brave battle with bone marrow cancer two years ago. She fought through the hardship of chemotherapy-induced menopause, but wants to be a mother now. “I’m looking at other options and talking to my partner about it. I would like to
have one child, boy or girl,” says Ray.

She was invited for the recently held IIFA awards in her hometown — Toronto, and feels honoured. “I think the awards are doing something really positive. It is getting people to talk about Bollywood films,” she says. Working for IIFA, she also got to see behind the scenes action. “Like, when a fan lunged on Shah Rukh Khan’s feet on stage, it went unnoticed as everyone thought it was part of the skit,” she says. Another favourite moment for her was: walking on the green-carpet, where she chose to lend support to Canadian designers by wearing their creations.

Ray, who has starred in films like Water, I Can’t Think Straight and Bollywood/Hollywood, was in the Capital to promote her new TV series, Oh My Gold!, to be aired on the channel, TLC. In the show, Ray travels through India, “snooping” around to uncover different cities’ inherent jewellery styles.

Her most prized possession? “A ruby and diamonds ring that was passed down by my mother to me,” she Ray.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The legend of El Dorado was definitely not set on the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple. But the seven-member panel, which is drawing up a list of assets at the famed shrine here, had a feel of the lost city of gold as they set foot in one of the two secret vaults located inside the sprawling granite structure which gives the Kerala capital its name.

On Thursday, the team assisted by personnel from the fire services and archeology department opened the locks of vault A to find a narrow flight of stairs leading down to an underground granite cellar. Oxygen was pumped frequently into the chamber and artificial lighting provided to enable the observers to work inside.

What they saw inside was startling, sources said. Gold coins dating back thousands of years, gold necklaces as long as nine feet and weighing about 2.5 kg, about one tonne of the yellow metal in the shape of rice trinkets, sticks made of the yellow metal, sack full of diamonds, gold ropes, thousands of pieces of antique jewellery studded with diamonds and emeralds, crowns and other precious stones lay scattered in the chamber marked 'A'.

Friday threw up far more surprises in the form of 17 kg of gold coins dating back to the East India Company period, 18 coins from Napolean's era, precious stones wrapped in silk bundles besides over 1,000 kg of gold in the form of coins and trinkets and a small elephant made of the yellow metal, sources said.

There were also sovereigns bearing the 1772 seal indicating they were from the reign of the then native king Karthika Thirunal Rama Varma. There are a total of six vaults marked A to F in the shrine. The A and B cellars have never opened since 1872.

Reports said the value of the recoveries so far from vault A alone may exceed over Rs 50,000 crore. This doesn't take into account their antique value. With chamber B, yet to be opened, speculation was rife that the shrine would pip Tirupati Balaji, who too has been assessed at a little more than Rs 50,000 crore to a distant second. No official confirmation has been forthcoming on the value of the recoveries.

Retired Kerala high court judges — Justice M N Krishnan and Justice C S Rajan — appointed observers by the Supreme Court said, ''It's difficult to give an exact date about when the stock-taking would be completed. The B and E vaults remain to be opened. We think it may take another week.''

Asked about the value of the assets, Justice Krishnan said the committee was drawing up the inventory of items and were not determining their price. The panel had set out on the job on June 27 and opened three vaults marked C, D and F till Wednesday. Assets found in these chambers were estimated to be worth over Rs 1,000 crore.

The wealth discovery has raised questions on the shrine's security. As of now, the internal security is managed by the temple employees, but this may be inadequate in the light of the events.

Brahmi gadi katha Movie Review – Brammigadi Katha Review – Brammi gadi katha Rating, Telugu Movie Review: Varun Sandesh’s latest film under Eeswar Reddy’s direction is out in theatres now. It has an interesting title and attractive posters to pull curious crowds to the theatres. What’s this Brahmi Gadu’s story is about? Here is the review…

Story:

Shiva (Varun Sandesh) comes to his uncle’s house in Hyderabad on his way to Gulbarga. Shiva’s would be wife and his cousin Bhagya (Poonam Kaur) awaits his arrival along with her father (Jayaprakash Reddy). Shiva bumps into Maya (Asmita Sood) in the train and comes to know that she is in trouble. Maya goes away from Shiva after sometime and he will be left puzzled. But he finds her again in Hyderabad and goes to help her as she is being chased by goons. At the same time a film director Brahmi comes to narrate a story to Shiva’s uncle. Surprisingly everything which Brahmi narrates happens in real. There is a dark secret behind Maya which puts Shiva in big problem. Rest of the story is about Maya’s background and the problem that has been chasing her.

Analysis:

This film’s plot reminds us of A film By Aravind. That film was a thriller and this is a comedy. Any film would seem interesting if one of the characters narrates what happens for real. However, a tight screenplay is required for such plots to keep the audience interested. Director Eeswar Reddy who also penned the screenplay for this film has utterly failed in that department.

Screenplay is the main drawback of this film as there are too many holes to fill and loose ends which need to be connected. Few scenes involving Brahmanandam and Jaya Prakash Reddy clicked well due to the awesome timing of both the actors. But the director failed to light up the scenes where the duo is absent.

Chase sequences are poorly shot. This is a ‘on the run’ film but that thrill is missing throughout as the chasers doesn’t look menacing enough. Female lead’s character is the backbone of the narrative and she has failed to give right expressions which didn’t help on filling in the emotional quotient.

Performances:

Varun Sandesh is fine but still needs to improve a lot. He is still not working on his biggest flaw, dialog delivery. Also he needs to put on some weight as he can’t pull off these roles which need him to flex muscles at times. Asmita Sood is a pain to watch. She doesn’t know the basics of acting and we will be terribly tortured with her expressions as it is hard to find out what she is actually trying to convey! Krishnudu is just Okay. Brahmanandam is the hero of this film. His mere presence is having audience in splits. Jaya Prakash Reddy is good despite being loud. Poonam Kaur is not bad. Nagineedu is minimal. Other actors do their part as per the director’s requirements.

Tehnicalities:

Koti’s songs are awful. Background score is pathetic. Padmasri’s dialogs lacked the required punch. Cinematography is average. There is nothing much to speak about other departments.

Eeswar Reddy’s inability has been highlighted yet again. He can’t handle the films despite having interesting plots at hands. Screenplay and direction are the biggest minus of this film.

Final Word: Brahmi gadi Katha – A comedy ‘story’ that ends up as a tragedy!

Box office predictions: Brammi gadi katha may appeal to audience who doesn’t mind to watch a film for few cheap laughs. It may fare better than Varun Sandesh’s recent flops due to the entertainment factor.

If sources are to be believed the actor turned politician, Megastar Chiranjeevi would be launching a news channel followed by a newspaper. Sources say that Chiru has already acquired “RK News” and is planning to establish it among all other news channels in the state.

Initially RK News was a cable network operated by Ramakanth Vajpayee. The channel couldn’t withstand the competition from other existing channels leading to poor ratings, resulting in it being taken by company, Agri gold. The concerned channel is in a bad shape as of now and Chiru buying it may see its name heard all across the state.

Well, launching a news channel is not a bad idea considering the eminent politicians across Andhra Pradesh have their own mouth pieces in the form of media houses. We certainly hope that this new venture of our beloved Megastar would re-establish his party across the state.

There were lots of hype in the media about Nagavalli, the sequel of Chandramukhi and remake of Kannada blockbuster Aapta Rakshaka. Director P Vasu, who choose to remake the film failed to convince Rajinikanth for the sequel and Venkatesh grabbed the opportunity. However, while watching the film, one would get the feel of watching the remake of Chandramukhi with Venkatesh and nothing more. At the same time he has excelled in a negative role in an old man get-up, besides a psychiatrist’s role. Read on for Nagavalli Review.

Story:
Shankar Rao (Saratbabu) finds a boy for her second daughter Gowri (Richa).But, the bridegroom runs away after a shocking incident and then Shankar, along with his wife (Prabha) meets Ramachandra Siddhanti (Avinash), who in turn invites Dr Vijay (Venkatesh) to deal with the situation. Dr Vijay is the student of Eswar (Rajinikanth).

Siddhanti realises that the reason behind the unforeseen incidents that are happening is due to a portrait of Chandramukhi and he finds that Eswar, though drove away Chandramukhi from Ganga (Jyothika) few years ago. Chandramukhi did not leave the world and remained in the form of portrait and moves in the form of a snake. He believes that Chandramukhi caught one among the daughters of Shankar Rao. However, he did not reveal that his first daughter Gayatri (Kamalini Mukherjee) is living in a mentally-challenged condition.

Everyone believes that it is Gayatri, who was caught by Chandramukhi. But Dr Vijay takes up a detailed study about all the family members and finds that she is not caught by Chandramukhi. He gives her treatment and make her come out of the mentally-deranged condition. During the course, he comes to know about Nagavalli and her link with king Nagabhairava Rajasekhara (Venkatesh). What happens next should be seen on-screen.

Performance:
Venkatesh has given a memorable performance in this film in three different roles. His get-up as Nagabhairava is rocking and he has excelled in a negative role and in a princely role. His performance as a 130-year-old man is also good to watch. He has played another character of Dr Vijay, which has different emotions like wit, humour, seriousness and knowledgeable. Anushka has appeared in the second half and appeared only in a few scenes. She looked gorgeous in in dancer’s costumes and her character has etched well. Shraddha Das’ character helped to maintain suspense in the film and she too has done to her role. Richa Gangopadhyay has got an excellent character she is simply superb in her character of Nagavalli. Kamalini Mukherjee’s character was not properly etched and she is just okay in her role. Poonam Kaur has filled the glamour slot but did not have much scope to perform. Kannada actress Suja appeared in the Telugu version with the same role in the original film Aaptha Rakshaka. Sharatbabu and Prabha are adequate, while Brahmanamdam and Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam have tried their best to entertain the audiences.

Technical:
Behind the screen, the film has good technical values. The graphic works, the cinematography, editing, art department all have worked hand in hand. Sam K Naidu’s cinematography is ultimate and editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is awesome. Art department needs to be complimented for the excellent work in erecting the sets of the fort and the buildings. Music and background score by Gurukiran is excellent. Though the audio evoked some mixed response from the audiences after the release of the audio, the choreography of songs and the visual appearance of songs is good to watch. Even the background score had helped to elevate the scenes. Screenplay and direction by P Vasu are worth mentioning in the film. Though the film has given the feel of rehashing the Chandramukhi film, the way the director etched each and every character needs to be complimented.

Remarks:
The first half of the film is just okay while the second half is gripping. Though P Vasu has tried to give a twist to the subject by diverting the attention of the audiences towards many other characters, he let loose his grip in the climax and that resulted in a very pale ending to the film. It is not so gripping at all.

About Shyam Benegal

Benegal originated what has come to be called "middle cinema". He was initially involved in the advertising industry and produced over 900 advertisements before his interest turned to films.

His film directorial debut was Gher Betha Ganga in 1962. Benegal shot to fame with Ankur 1973, which introduced Shabana Azmi, who also starred in Nishant 1975. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1976 and the Padma Bhushan in 1991.

The success that New India Cinema enjoyed in the 1970s and early 1980s could largely be attributed to Shyam Benegal's quartet Ankur (1973), Nishant (1975), Manthan (1976) and Bhumika (1977), which were artistically superior yet commercially viable films. Tapping fresh talent mainly from the FTII and NSD like Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Smita Patil, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Amrish Puri, Benegal has made several sensitive and stimulating films.

Benegal is related to the famous film director and actor Guru Dutt Padukone - contrary to what is generally believed. His paternal grand-mother and Guru Dutt's maternal grand-mother were sisters. Both are nominally Konkani speaking Chitrapur Saraswats. He is also the founder of the Hyderabad Film Society and a former Ad Filmmaker.

With Nishant, where a teacher's wife is abducted and gang-raped by four zamindars and officialdom turns a deaf ear to the distraught husband's pleas for help and Manthan, set against the backdrop of Gujarat's fledgling dairy industry, Benegal continued to address the viewer in a strict cinematic language bereft of commercial skills. (5 lakh farmers in the state, each of whom contributed 2 Rs, produced the latter film! They came in truckloads to see 'their film' once released thereby making it extremely successful at the box office!)

Bhumika looks at an individual's search for identity and self-fulfillment. The film is broadly based on the life of well-known Marathi Stage and screen actresses of the 1940s, Hansa Wadkar who led a flamboyant and unconventional life. To quote film critic Derek Malcolm

"…What Benegal has done is to paint a magnificent visual recreation of those extraordinary days and one that is also sensitive to the agonies and predicament of a talented woman whose need for security was only matched by her insistence on freedom."

Unlike most New Cinema Filmmakers Benegal has had private backers for many of his films. Following the success of these four films, he was backed by film star Shashi Kapoor for whom he made Junoon (1979) and Kalyug (1981). The former set in the turbulent period of the Indian Mutiny of 1857 is one of Benegal's most stylish films and one which is meticulously detailed and visually arresting and one that gave him much satisfaction but Kalyug, a complex narrative based on the Mahabharat in spite of some great moments doesn't quite come off.

In the 1980s however with the collapse of the New Cinema, Benegal's films have not had proper releases and the 1980s also saw him turn to TV where he directed serials like Yatra (1986) for the Indian Railways, and of course one of the biggest projects undertaken on Indian Television, Bharat ek Khoj (1988) a serial based on Nehru's Discovery of India.

Tollywood actor Allu Arjun aka Bunny got engaged to a Hyderabadi girl, Sneha Reddy on Friday. The ring which was selected by Arjun for the would-be bride Sneha is reportedly worth Rs 35 lakhs.

Arjun had said the ceremony would be a low-key affair as they could not find a suitable venue and the engagement date was fixed in a hurry.

Sneha Reddy is the daughter of educationist and businessman Shankar Reddy. She has completed her MS in Computer Science from a reputed university in the US.

According to reports, the engagement was attended by close relatives and friends of the couple. Chiranjeevi and his son Ram Charan Tej were some of the stars at the private ceremony.

Sources said that their wedding would take place in February 2011. The date hasn't been fixed yet.

Ramcharan Tej is coming back after his mega blockbuster ‘Magadheera’ and this time, he is seen in a lover boy image. And Bhaskar, after his Parugu has come up with this ‘Orange’.

Story:

Set on the backdrop of Australia, Ram (Ramcharan) is an youngster who loves graffiti but he doesn’t believe in love for lifetime. He wants to say truth all the while with respect to love life and live with open mind, open thought and open action with his partner.

This leads to a clash of ideology with Jaanu (Genelia) who studies in the same college and what starts out as a romantic tale between them both turns out to be a relationship of confusion and complications.

Ram explains this entire story as his flash back while a police cop (Prakash Raj) asks him as a part of informal interrogation (!)

Jaanu believes in everlasting love but given the thought process of Ram, will they be together? Can they really love each other? All this forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Ramcharan did his best to fit the lover boy tag and he was neat in his dance and dialogue delivery. Two things he must avoid- a clean shave and full body shots while in a group. There was no emotional depth in his character so his body language was average.

Genelia was depressing and disappointing. Her costumes were bizarre, the make up was patchy and her face looked blotted. She has lost the innocence and charm. Perhaps it is age but the blame also goes to the styling and her image etching. Performance wise, she was regular and didn’t have any special acts.

Shahzahn comes like a breath of fresh air and though she was brief, she looks cute and attractive. She has the potential to take lead roles.

Prakashraj was regular, Brahmi’s comedy was not upto the mark, Prabhu and Pavitra Lokesh were alright, Vennela Kishore was wasted, Madhurima was quick but sweet, Naga Babu made his presence felt. The others didn’t have much to offer except filling the screens and rolling out few lines.

Analysis:

The fundamental blunder in the film is that when speaking about love it should be run on emotions and feeling but not on calculation. To make things worse, Baskar tries to explain the calculation with his own narrative style which was rather confusing. He had something noble and different in mind but he could not conceive it in the right manner on the screen. There is no emotion, no romance, no chemistry between the lead pair, no sentiment and above all, no comedy. At one stage, it becomes like a boring mathematics class where the audience have become students and are trying to understand what Professor Bhaskar is trying to explain on the love algorithm.

The other disappointment is the philosophy on love. While it is nice to have an ocean full of love, it is common sense that love alone is not life. They are two different entities and the essence of life is in striking a balance between both. Fortunately, what Baskar was trying to say ended up confusing many in the theatre but to those who may have understood a fraction of it, this is truly dangerous. On the other hand, there are quite a number of instances where Bhaskar tried to take the route of Gautam Menon but the difference is chalk and cheese.

The good side of the film is the songs and their picturization which was really impressive and visually appealing. Charan’s efforts in songs were commendable. The fight sequence which involves the spray cans was also creative and colorful. As for his much hyped sky diving stunt, that is not so appealing as expected.

Overall, the film is good on presentation but very poor in content and completely blotched on narration and concept. While the masses have nothing in it, the class audience will feel like they are in a classroom. And regarding the mega fans…well, it looks like 2010 is just not their year as their favorite heroes seem to be dealing with unconventional characters.

Bottomline: Sour fruit with seeds of confusion and misdirection

A source close to the couple reveals, “They met through common friends and have been dating for over a year now. The couple is very much in love and going pretty strong.”

Akshara, who lives with her mother Sarika in Mumbai, is a great dancer and aspires to be a choreographer. But currently, she is working on ad films as an assistant director. Apparently, she is working hard on her relationship too.

The source adds, “Jason and Akshara are quite open about their relationship and have put up their pictures on social networking sites. Akshara’s family knows that Jason is her close friend but they are unaware that they’re in love.”

Nayantara who is suspected to be in a relationship with Prabhu Deva is facing hard time with the women organizations. An organization called Hindu Makkal Katchi in Tamilnadu is objecting the actress in donning Goddess Sita’s role in Bala Krishna-Bapu film ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’.

Venkatesh’s ‘Nagavalli’ logo launched!

Victory Venkatesh’s undershoot film, ‘Nagavalli’ logo was launched today at Ramanaidu Studios in Hyderabad. The event was graced by Tollywood celebrities Venkatesh, Priyamani, Vimala Raman, Bellamkonda Suresh, Paruchuri Brothers, and Chandrabose.

Being produced by Bellamkonda Suresh under the banner, Sri Sai Ganesh Productions Pvt Ltd the film has Anushka, Kamalini Mukherjee, Richa Gangopadhyay, Sraddha Das and Poonam Kaur as heroines. This semi-horror flick is a sequel to Rajinikanth, Jyothika, Prabhu starrer ‘Chandramukhi’ and is being directed by P.Vasu who directed its prequel.

When you say Bava, one expects youthful and romantic
. But Rambabu's Bava fails to offer anything new. The difference between the two villages, the estranged brother and sister, their loss of love and the love story of their children in continuation - this is no novelty to the Telugu screen. Rambabu could not offer the impressive narration or gripping output expected of him. And as for Siddharth- another misplaced attempt for a break.

Veerababu (Siddhartha) is the over-pampered son of Sitaramudu (Rajendra Prasad), who falls in love with Varalakshmi (Praneetha). Soon after, Varalakshmi also finds herself falling for him. But their blossoming young love is in for a rude shock. As they explore their childhood, they discover that they might be closely related. When Varalakshmi's father gives her away to Ramana (Samrat) in marriage, the tensed lady-in-love asks Veerababu to keep his promise to her and do something. In a frenzied rage, he ties the knot and takes her to his home. The movie goes into a flashback as Sitaramudu reveals the truth: that they both are very close relatives and their marriage is indeed valid. But he tells Veerababu to marry her only in the presence of all her family members. Leaving Veerababu to convince Varalakshmi's father. Meanwhile, Ramana's father reveals the identity of Veerababu and gets him thrashed black and blue. The same treatment is meted out to Sitaramudu, when he tries to. Unfortunately enough, Sitaramudu die of humiliation. Now it is Veerababu's turn to get back his wife from that family? What steps does he take? Does Ramana give in?

Siddharth's performance is the highlight of the film. He maintains the lover boy image till the first half and in the second half delivers a matured performance. Rajendra Prasad also, once again gives an impressive performance. But it is Rajendra Prasad' character which ultimately lifts the spirit of the film. The episode at Annavaram, where the granny shows the way, is undoubtedly good work. Rajendra Prasad and Siddhartha share a good working chemistry. Praneetha as a debutant tried her best to give a nice performance. Ahuti Prasad, Viswanath Kasi, Tanikella Bharani, Samrat, and others also did justice to their roles. Camera work by Aravind Krishna is good to some extent.

Brahmanandam and Ali's attempt to entertain the audience with sickening comedy was in vain. Dialogues by Veera Pothana are average. KV Krishna Reddy's editing skills could have been sharper. Several boring scenes in the film could have been trimmed, especially in the second half. Music director Chakri gives some fresh tunes, but on the whole the audio score is pathetic. None of the characters have a good foundation. The screenplay goes haywire on several occasions.

Siddharth who has no big hits in the recent past banked heavily on Rambabu's 'Bava' but this film also failed to deliver. Though the first half is okay with a good run, the film turned out to be a dud.

Adivi Sesh is just 25 and he has wrapped up directing and acting in a Telugu film Karma completely shot in the United Status. Tall, fair and good-looking Sesh tried his hand at acting in a Telugu film to be directed by Krishna Vamsi titled Mallepuvvu but that didn't work out. Disappointed he left for the US and joined a film school. Straight out of it he pooled his family money and personal savings to make Karma that has an entire cast and crew as Americans.

His cousin Sai Kiran Adivi who made Vinayakudu and Village Lo Vinayakudu is giving him moral support but other than that the actor is on his own, calling the media and promoting his first ever bilingual film. Sesh says that he strongly believes in destiny and adds that if he had done Mallepuvvu, Karma wouldn't have happened. Many people spend their lives with their passion unfulfilled but he thinks he is extremely lucky to follow and realize his dream. Sesh's grand dad is Adivi Bapiraju, a great literary figure who had written Himabindu and Gona Ganna Reddy, his songs and poetry has been used for movies and now both the boys Sesh and Sai Kiran are into writing for movies and directing them.

Sesh considers Karma as an addition to his resume and roped in Hollywood actress Jade Tailor to play Padma, his love interest. She was apparently chosen from 300 artists who came for the audition and miraculously mastered the Telugu dialogues within three months. But how did Karma germinate? Sesh met with a massive car accident in Sunnyvale and escaped from the jaws of death. After he regained consciousness and walked out of the hospital to the junk yard he was stunned to see his car completely crushed. The people who lived there for thirty years claimed never to have seen anyone come out alive from such a mishap.

It was then he started believing in the supernatural power and the theory of Karma, that he's here today for all the good deeds he must have done in his past birth. So armed with a degree in a film school, having been exposed to fundamentals of filmmaking and world cinema, he immediately embarked on this ambitious project. He says, "I want to deliver popular entertainment to the masses, not cheap comedy. Whether the subject is good or bad..people should be telling it but I feel I've been successful in showing what our culture teaches us in the form of a super natural thriller with a comment on Kaliyuga and mankind."

What about the story? It is about a medical student Padma who as a child saw her father being murdered by a priest and for reasons which can be tracked to this incident has turned atheist, lives alone and is forlorn, distraught. Her friend Raj attempts to bring her out of the situation but of no avail. She gets to meet Dev who is high on spirituality and her conversations with him, the interactions land her in a dilemma. There is a conflict of ideas between God and science and as Padma starts questioning and understanding Dev, she finds herself being drawn in love with him. But is Padma convinced with Dev's philosophy or will she ever believe in him is the final part of the story.

You have three major films — Robo, Action Replayy and Guzaarish — releasing back to back.

It was fun for the last two years while the films were being made. For anyone, that's the most exciting time.

You are the only married actress today who has had a consistent career in Bollywood.

I would like say “thank you” but it won't be right to take delight alone in this compliment. There have been many actors who have continued to work after getting married in different decades. In recent times, it had become a preconceived notion that leading ladies would probably not work after marriage but I never paid attention to this even when I was single. I choose to be in films as a professional

With Rajinikanth playing the title role in Robo, do you have a substantial role?

When I work on a film I am not myopic about my role; I see the film in its totality. Of course, my part is important; as an actor I have to be excited about my role

What motivated you to sign on Robo?

First, it was an opportunity to work with Shankar sir and Rajni sir. So when I got an opportunity to work with both of them and on something as technically advanced as Robot, I was more than happy because my dates too could be worked out.

Was it difficult to romance a robo?

I'm kind of spoilt for choices in the film, you will have to see how things correlate and who I romance and who romances me.

What were your thoughts on robots before doing this film?

We have always been subjected to a particular imagery and stereotypical form like the ones shown to us by the toy stores.

Films with special effects have the actors enacting their roles in front of a green screen. Did you find that amusing?

Shankar had to explain lots of things during Jeans.. It was a first for me and it was fascinating. But over a period of time, I have done so many films where we have acted in front of a green screen.

What did you like best about working with Rajinikanth?

I have seen Rajini sir's work, I have read about it, and seen how enthralled his audiences are with what he does. It was amazing to see him do that everyday and do it so simply. He brings a smile to your face. I recognize him as a superstar. But as a person, he is so humble.

Brindavanam Telugu Movie Review

Dil Raju had done the movie Munna with Vamsi Paidipalli, but it was a disaster. However, the producer gave him one more chance to direct. This time, the director has worked very hard on the script and screenplay and made it as a wholesome family entertainer. The entire technical team has worked in tandem and strengthened Vamsi’s hands to bring out a clean entertainer.

Story
Bhanu Prasad (Prakash Raj) and Siva (Srihari) are stepbrothers. They get separated due to some conspiracy by Bhanuprasad’s brother-in-law (Tanikella Bharani) and they become bitter enemies. They stay in separate villages, which were in the border of Telangana (Mahbubnagar) and Kurnool (Rayalaseema).

Bhanu’s daughter Bhumi (Kajal) studies in the city, while Siva’s wife’s (Sitara) sister’s daughter Indu (Samantha) is one of her best friends. Bhumi and Indu doesn’t know each other that they were cousins. Krish (NTR) is the son of an industrialist (Mukesh Rushi) and he falls in love with Indu. He is quite bold and takes her home and introduces her to his parents. Once Indu tells Krish that Bhumi was in a problem and she needs his help. According to her, Bhumi wants to pursue higher education in the US, but her father wanted to marry her to his nephew (Ajay). As the groom is a bad guy, Bhumi’s grandfather (Kota Srinivasa Rao) lies that Bhumi was in love with a boy in the city.

So Bhanu tells Bhumi to bring him to the village. Krish reaches the village with Bhumi and realises that everyone her house are afraid of Bhanu and make them realise that he came there to blossom love in everyone. He also makes Bhanu to realise his folly and unites him with his brother Siva and the two villages celebrate their reunion. At this juncture, Indu reaches the village. Then Krish and Bhumi realise the problem. If Krish reveals the truth that he is not in love with Bhumi and actually loved Indu, both Bhanu and Siva would be at loggerheads once again. How Krish solved the problem? To whom he married? Answers to all these questions should be seen on-screen.

PERFORMANCE:
NTR, as usual, has given a wonderful performance in Brindavanam. He has maintained good comedy timing and has done the action scenes with equal ease. Vamsi has etched the character by mixing the family image with action scenes to please the mass audiences thereby maintaining the action-hero image. Kajal is sweet in half-sarees as a village girl. Most of the film revolves around Kajal. Samantha, who appears an urban girl, has done justice to her role and she is also quite glamorous and appealing. The characters of Prakash Raj and Srihari are of equal status and they have lived up to the expectations. Kota Srinivasa Rao is okay in his role as grandfather. Ahuti Prasad’s character is a little lower to his calibre and Raghubabu is okay. Mukesh Rushi and Pragati are adequate. Tanikella Bharani was wasted as he played the role with negative shades. Ajay’s role just comes and goes and plays some role in the climax.

TECHNICAL:
Dialogues by Koratala Siva are good and dotted with comedy and punch. He has maintained the tempo while penning dialogues with sentiment. Though the basic story is by the director Vamsi Paidipalli, the dialogues have filled life in it. Music by Thaman is soothing and full of melody and rhythm. Choreography of all songs is good to watch. Cinematography by Chota K Naidu is apt and he has perfectly captured the rural beauty. The camera work in action scenes is also good. Action scenes by Ram-Lakshman, though not so stylish, could enthral the mass audiences. Though the story has the shades of old films. Vamsi has scripted a tight screenplay and he has narrated every scene with precision.

REMARKS:
You can watch the film with a family because of the entertainment values. Dil Raju is once again back on track. Vamsi Paidipalli has brought a smile on his face with his wholesome entertainer. The most interesting point is that the film starts with the song ‘Brinadaavanamadi…’ in colour and it is quite interesting to watch.

Actor-cum-director Prabhu Deva has finally confessed his love for actress Nayanthara after two years of courting and much media speculation.

Prabhu Deva, who is currently shooting for Santosh Sivan's Urumi, says that he is in love with Nayanthara and that the couple will be getting married soon.

He also added that it is a personal decision and he prefers not to talk about it to the media.

Rumours are rife that the couple will get married before the end of the year.

Reports also suggest that Nayanthara might quit acting and look after Prabhu's life and career post marriage.

Incidentally, the actors had refused to make their relationship public even after Nayanthara had gotten Prabhu's name tattooed on her wrist.

The actor, who first met Nayanthara while shooting for Villu, gushes that the beautiful actress is like an oasis in his desert and that she has stood by him in difficult times.

Kajol delivers a baby boy

Actor Kajol and her actor-filmmaker husband Ajay Devgn became the proud parents of a baby boy, who the star delivered at Lilavati Hospital, Bandra on Monday.

On Sunday evening, Kajol was spotted entering the hospital with her sister Tanissha. Soon Devgn walked in, followed by their staff who was carrying her luggage. Hospital sources inform that she was admitted to one of the executive suites on the eleventh floor, which is preferred by most celebrities.

At about 8.45 am, Kajol went into labour, and leading gynaecologists, Dr Nandita Palshetkar and Dr Rishma Dhillon Pai performed the C-section on her. Pediatrician Dr Bhupendra Awasthi was also present. At about 9.20 am, she delivered the baby boy.

When contacted, Devgn replied with a text message. “Thank you for the wishes. Kajol and the baby are fine. Our families are very happy,” he said. It is learnt that the couple has already thought of a few names for their son, but will decide when Kajol and the baby get home. The star couple’s first daughter, Nysa, is seven years old.

Rajinikanth's Robo is set to release on October 1st. The film's theatrical trailer was launched recently.

Tota Kanna Rao who bagged the movie's distribution rights for Andhra Pradesh for a whopping Rs 27 Crores conducted the press meet. Sun TV Pictures' COO Hansraj Saxena said that the movie would be hitting the screens on October 1st with a record number of prints. 'For the Tamil and Hindi versions, we are planning more than 2000 prints. For the Telugu version, we are yet to get the final call from Tota Kannarao but I am sure we would release it in Telugu with the highest number of prints,' he said.
